Ciprofloxacin Treatment

Ciprofloxacin is a drug that belongs to the class of fluoroquinolone medications. This remedy is used to destroy the bacteria which trigger harmful infection. Ciprofloxacin is also used to advert and slow down the onset of anthrax. This drug blocks the proliferation of DNA bacteria that bind to the ferment called DNA gyrase. Ciprofloxacin is efficacious against Vibrio, Enterobacteriaceae, Haemophilus ducreyi, Haemophilus influenza, Neisseria gonorrhoeae (widespread insensitivity to Ciprofloxacin restricts its usefulness in curing N. gonorrhea infections), Moraxella catarrhalis, Campylobacter, Neisseria meningitides, Mycobacterium intracellulare, Brucella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Legionella sp, Escherichia coli, and Bacillus anthracis.

The Dosage of Ciprofloxacin

The liquid form of Ciprofloxacin should be measured with a special medical measuring spoon to prevent over dose. The liquid form should be properly shaken at least for 15 seconds in order that the medicine could mix well. If you take Ciplrofloxacin tablets, do not chew or crush them, because they should be swallowed as a whole. You can take Ciprofloxacin after or before having a meal. Do not eat yogurt, drink milk or juice fortified with calcium while taking Ciprofloxcin. This drug should be washed down with a full glass of water. It is advisable to drink an extra glass of water when taking Ciprofloxacin.
Side Effects
All medications may trigger side effects. They may be quite severe, however in most cases they are not.

If any side effects are observed during the Ciprofloxacin treatment course or you have any symptoms that may be triggered by Ciprofloxacin, whether or not they are specified below, please, contact your physician or a pharmacist without delay. Medical assistance may be required, if you have some of Ciprofloxacin side effects. Among the most common conditions that may result from using Ciprofloxacin are dizziness, diarrhea, loss of consciousness, increased or decreased heartbeat, fever, convulsions , yellowish skin colour, dark urine colour, weakness,  urination problems, bleeding or bruising, numbness, tingling, sore throat and headache, nervousness, depression, hallucinations, joint pain or swelling , changes in behaviour.

  • you have an inherited Long QT syndrome
